Consulting
Development consulting for the region.
Lok Jack GSB Consulting implements projects that develop organisations and the Caribbean region — assessments, strategic planning, educational reform, capacity building and more.
Who we are
Part of the School's mission.
The UWI-Lok Jack GSB Consulting Team implements a range of projects that develop organisations and the region. Our projects range from assessments, strategic planning, educational reform and capacity building and more. This is part of Lok Jack GSB's mission to improve business and the economic environment in which we operate for the development of the Caribbean region.
What we do
Development consulting areas.
Our consultants, with local, regional and international experience, strengthen and support regional institutions for long-term economic, social and political development through research, education, capacity building, quality management and improvement of the labour market.
Quality Management Systems
ISO-aligned quality systems, from process design to certification readiness — as delivered for the Bureau for Intellectual Property in Suriname and the Environmental Management Authority.
Educational Reform
National curriculum development and institutional strengthening for ministries of education and tertiary institutions.
Capacity Building
Training, coaching and systems that leave capability behind in the client organisation rather than in a report.
Strategic Planning
Strategy visioning, planning and the performance frameworks needed to execute it.
Governmental Reform
Local government reform, public service delivery and decentralisation programmes.
Civil Society Development
Strengthening the capacity of national and local civil society organisations to participate in policy.
Non-Governmental Organisations
Governance, funding readiness and organisational development for the NGO sector.
Research and Development
Sector studies, econometric analysis and baseline assessments that inform investment and policy.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Frameworks that make a programme's results measurable while it is running, not after it ends.
Our approach
Academic rigour, applied to your organisation.
We bring academic research and new knowledge to your organisation to help you prepare for the future of business — a mix of the expertise and rigour of academia, combined with our consultants' experience in international organisations and an understanding of the Caribbean environment. As a business school with projects and faculty across the Caribbean, we have a 360-degree view of business development in the region. We understand the challenges that public and private organisations face and the need for accountability, scalability and long-term sustainability.

Where we work
Four areas of development practice.
CSO Development
There is increasing acknowledgment among governments and development practitioners that the involvement of civil society is critical to appropriate, relevant and sustainable development policy. Lok Jack GSB works to strengthen the capacity of national and local civil society organisations, and to improve their effectiveness in the decision-making and implementation of national and local policy.
Social Innovation
We understand social innovation to be a novel solution to a social problem that is more effective, efficient, sustainable or just than current solutions, where the value created accrues primarily to society rather than to private individuals. The School's Social Innovation Lab programme, SINNOVAL, was developed with the Citi Foundation to build confidence and capability in young people in Trinidad and Tobago.
Public Sector Development
Lok Jack GSB Development Consulting works with national and regional governments, government agencies, trade associations and state-owned companies. The sector faces rising costs, growing deficits, shifting centres of economic activity and increasingly demanding citizens; our work addresses the strategic tools that help public sector entities do what they do better.
Education and Training
Education and training are enablers of social and economic development. The region requires citizens with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to lead purposeful and productive lives in an internationally competitive environment. Our work provides partners, affiliates and CARICOM countries with capacity building through leadership, management and manpower development.
